One important difference that researchers have found between employees working in regular offices and independent professionals or remote workers in coworking spaces, is that members of coworking spaces see their work as meaningful. Another important difference is the organic connections and a diverse community with no internal politics and competition.
This also makes the greatest advantage of coworking spaces compared to working from home and not paying for a desk. One other advantage that employers should consider when it comes to the happiness and productivity of their team, is that people should have their own job control.
That is also one of the differences co-working offices create. People can decide whether to put in a long day when they have a deadline or want to show progress, or can decide to take a long break in the middle of the day to go to the gym (or to the beach ;)).
They can choose whether they want to work in a quiet space so they can focus, or in a more collaborative space with shared tables where interaction is encouraged.
